Classroom Pictures are Here!

I’m so excited to finally be able to post classroom pictures!  I hope you all received the e-mail containing your password information.  If you did not receive an e-mail from me, please let me know so I can send you the password.

Friday morning we went to our first assembly with the whole school.  I was so impressed with all the students’ listening skills!  They sat through a lengthy assembly listening to Mr. Unger (our principal) talk about all sorts of things.  We were all a little bit antsy near the end but we held it together very well!  Way to go Division 15!

After returning to the classroom we were all ready for playtime.  Playtime was interrupted momentarily for snack time and then an outside recess time but we continued to play for a little bit longer after our recess break.  After we cleaned up, we worked on our September portfolio cover page (you can see a few pictures under the Classroom Pictures page).  I must say we have some budding artists in the class!

After lunch and another outside playtime, we had our first “quiet time”.  I put out several “Reading Clouds” or “nuages de lecture” in French (light blue fleece Ikea blankets with books in the middle) where students could look at books or rest.  After a water break we learned a couple of new songs about colours and read a few books.  Then, it was time to go!

Next week, we will be learning about the letter “s”!  Each week we will focus on a different letter and corresponding sound.  We will be doing several different activities all involving the letter “s”.  I’m looking forward to establishing consistent routines now that we are full-day!

Have a restful weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!

P.S. Please try to remember to return the plastic envelopes that notices come home in the very next school day.  Thanks 🙂

Thank you for posting so much about the kids’ day. As parents, it is a bit of a mystery about what the kids are up to all day and seeing your blogs helps us be involved and feel part of this new experience. Rowan was thrilled to see the pictures and so proud to show us all his new friends and the books he has been reading. He is heading up the stairs singing “Bonna Fete”. Thank you!

  2. I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog so far! I really hope this will help students remember what we do all day and then they can share their experiences with you!
