Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday season!  I know I have.  Here’s a few snapshots from my 2 weeks off:

Maelle REALLY enjoyed the rides by the Toys ‘r Us at Lansdowne.

We went a few times while finishing our Christmas shopping.

Every year we decorate a gingerbread house at my in-law’s house.  This was our house this year:

We decided to go for a natural looking house (last year was a rainbow house).

Here’s Maelle all dressed up for Christmas Eve:

And, later on that night she got some new satin pyjamas from her auntie.

Then came Christmas morning!

Maelle got two stuffed dogs among other things.

She also got a stroller for her baby!

See you on Tuesday!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

The holidays are finally here!  I’m looking forward to catching up on some sleep and relaxing before the new year.

Today was a high energy day.  The students performed wonderfully in the morning concert!  We began our day with playtime and then went to the gym when it was our time to perform.  After recess we did calendar and then the students went to the gym to watch Finding Nemo.  After lunch about half the class didn’t want to return to the gym to watch the rest of the movie so they stayed in the class with me and the other half of the class went back to the gym to watch the show.  Then, it was time for the open house.  Thank you to everyone who came and watched us sing (again) and look at the students’ portfolios.  Thank you for providing the food and drinks.

Also, thank you so much for all of your generous gifts and cards.  I feel very spoiled!

I will do my best to write some posts throughout the holidays so please check back often!

Happy Holiday!

One more day…

I was only at school half the day today; I’m still suffering from a cold.  I think everyone is looking forward to the break!  Tomorrow will be an exciting day!

This morning we:

  • reviewed appropriate recess and lunchtime behaviour expectations (no hitting, pushing, kicking, tripping, no throwing things at the snow geese or people etc.)
  • played!
  • did calendar.
  • painted some hand crafted baker’s clay ornaments (made by Mme K).
  • ate lunch

This afternoon, I wasn’t around but students attended a French sing-a-long in the gym and then students had gym with Mr. Unger.

I’m sure it was a great afternoon!

Just some reminders for tomorrow:

Tomorrow at 9:00 in the winter concert.  I hope you are able to make it to see us perform; if you can’t make it in the morning, we will be singing the songs again for the open house in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

If you want, you may want to dress your child in Christmas colours or something a little nicer than everyday school wear.

See you tomorrow!

I made it…

Today was a rough day for me… I’m not feeling very well.  I have a terrible cold.  I think I’ll take tomorrow afternoon off and be back on Friday.

Today was a funny day especially with the dress rehearsal and all.

Today we:

  • did morning table work.
  • played with the sounds we’ve learned so far.
  • played.
  • went to the library.
  • played some more.
  • sat through the 2 hour dress rehearsal winter concert!
  • had a late lunch (12:50 to 1:45).
  • did calendar together.
  • had quiet time (read, rested or drew).

That was our day!  Tomorrow we will be painting with acrylic paint!  It is Taco Louis food day!! Tomorrow is also the French sing-along in the afternoon followed by gym.

See you tomorrow!

Just a few reminders…

Hi there,

I wanted to remind you of a few things tonight:

  • Tomorrow is our dress rehearsal of the concert beginning at 10:45 a.m.  You are welcome to attend but there will be limited seating and it will be way at the back of the gym!
  • Tomorrow is also library day, please bring back all those library books!
  • Tell your child to be extra nice to me tomorrow because I’m still feeling under the weather.  🙂

See you tomorrow.

Sneezes and Sniffles

Tis the season of sneezes and sniffles and I’m hoping I make it through this very busy last week before vacation.  I’m notorious for getting sick the last week of winter vacation.  One year I missed everything, the concert, the parties everything!

Today was a pretty normal day for us.  Here’s what we did today:

  • We began our day with some table ‘work’ choices.
  • We began our study of the letter ‘p’.
  • Students coloured their ‘p’ page in their phonics workbooks.
  • We played.
  • After recess we had gym and right after gym we went to Mme Tardif’s class to do some singing.
  • It was lunch time already!
  • After lunch we quickly lined up and went to the gym to do a quick practice walking onto the stage.  We will practice this again tomorrow since nobody is in the gym between 1:00 and 1:15.
  • We got back to class and finally got around to doing calendar.
  • We had a shortened version of cloud time for 15 minutes.  The majority of students decided to draw quietly but a few people rested too.
  • We did a writing activity.  I really wanted to get a writing sample from everyone to include in their portfolios for December.  I was very impressed with everyone’s efforts.  Some students copied random words from the pocket chart that had nothing to do with the picture but even the act of copying words is a big accomplishment for Kindergarten!  A few students came up with really great sentences using simple sentence starters!
  • After students finished they could choose to play a math game we’ve already learned.  I must say, everyone really likes the math games.  They are so good at figuring out who goes first and following the rules for the games.
  • It was already time to go home.

Just a few reminders… Tomorrow’s painting craft has been postponed to Thursday.  Please send your child to school in grubby shirts that day or send a shirt that he/she can wear overtop of their shirt (I hope that made sense).

Please sign and return report card envelopes at your earliest convenience.

Thanks.

See you tomorrow!
